Spring? Ha!
My Mom told me on the phone that Spring is on its way where she lives in Germany. I am not expecting "Spring" before mid-April, especially today with the temperature having been -18 degrees C and having felt like -31 with windchill. Bundle up, Montreal!
I found some salmon pink Alpaca in my stash and with Project Spectrums first month starting on Wednesday I decided to do something with it. The picture I posted with all the pink and red things was only for inspiration, I don't know if I am going to use any of the yarn in it. Maybe - since I only have three balls of Alpaca and that means "small project". A hat, most probably, 'cause I can sure use it...

Baby it's cold outside
On Thursday night while meeting with some of the Montreal Olympic Knitters (I am not participating, I am cheerleading) I had the opportunity to fondle some gorgeous, hand-dyed yarn. As Nadine described it I was filled with glee.
Today I wanted to go outside while the sun was still there (right, so not much sun, but it was there!) and take a picture of what I purchased. It was minus 18 degrees, and crisp and clear.
I was outside, all bundled up to do what I'd planned. It would have been a cool picture in so many ways, having the skeins dangling from the clothes line. See the (pink) peg in the right upper corner? It's not as if I didn't try.
Instead, I have to give you this:
As every clever weatherman in the country would do, I forgot to consider the wind chill - in my case more the wind blow - that endangered my precious yarn. I was just not up to chasing it down an icy road, through hedges and over fields without cramp-ons which are badly needed here after the flash freeze we had on Friday.

Pink - it's not even a question
Someone has rewired my brain. Has gotten in there and did something to me. Lately I have been drawn to PINK. Pink everything - except for clothing. I am not talking the warm pinks, I am talking hot pink and baby pink. What's wrong with me? I don't know.
See, even my sock yarn has lots of pink in it:
It's a bit hard to tell, but these are two different colourways.
I guess this is a good time to get in the mood for the first month of "Project Spectrum" - it's all about PINK, oh, and a bit of red, too...

Colours, I do love colours
Lolly's "Project Spectrum" is just the thing for me.
I had toyed with the idea of joining the Knitting Olympics, but I didn't want to put that pressure on. I have a lot going on at work, and three weeks is short enough to make any project larger than socks a real challenge. Which it is supposed to be, I know. Maybe next time.
Instead I am going for the colours. I haven't spent much thought on what and how, but I am sure I will find appropriate projects for each month.
March - Red and Pink
April - Orange and Yellow
May - Green
June - Blue
July - Violet / Purple
August - Neutrals / Black & White
